ZEROHEDGE: Violence Erupts As Hong Kong's Leader Threatens To Use "All Necessary Measures To Restore Social Order"

Violence Erupts As Hong Kong's Leader Threatens To Use "All Necessary Measures To Restore Social Order"

Having tried (unsuccessfully) to break up the pro-democracy protesters in the heart of Hong Kong using local triad gangs (as opposed to the optics of actual police), it appears the Chinese government is rolling back from its "wait-and-see" approach and becoming more aggressive once again. Hong Kong's Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, as DPA reports, demanded protesters end their blockade of major roads by Monday, or the government will take "all necessary measures to restore social order." Tensions continue to rise, with clashes breaking out sporadically, as the protesters have broken off talks with the government. As fears of another Tiananmen square debacle loom, former Hong Kong governor Chris Patten noted, "I cannot believe it would be so stupid as to do anything like send in the army."
At least 37 people were injured yesterday in the violence, taking the number of those hurt throughout the protests to 131, health officials said.

Hackers’ Attack Cracked 10 Financial Firms in Major Assault

OCTOBER 3, 2014 9:39 PM

The huge cyberattack on JPMorgan Chase that touched more than 83 million households and businesses was one of the most serious computer intrusions into an American corporation. But it could have been much worse.

Questions over who the hackers are and the approach of their attack concern government and industry officials. Also troubling is that about nine other financial institutions — a number that has not been previously reported — were also infiltrated by the same group of overseas hackers, according to people briefed on the matter. The hackers are thought to be operating from Russia and appear to have at least loose connections with officials of the Russian government, the people briefed on the matter said. [That seems convenient given the central banks are deeply involved in the Ukraine mess, it doesn't say they have proved they are Russians... - AK]

It is unclear whether the other intrusions, at banks and brokerage firms, were as deep as the one that JP Morgan disclosed on Thursday. The identities of the other institutions could not be immediately learned.

The breadth of the attacks — and the lack of clarity about whether it was an effort to steal from accounts or to demonstrate that the hackers could penetrate even the best-protected American financial institutions — has left Washington intelligence officials and policy makers far more concerned than they have let on publicly. Some American officials speculate that the breach was intended to send a message to Wall Street and the United States about the vulnerability of the digital network of one of the world’s most important banking institutions.

“It could be in retaliation for the sanctions” placed on Russia, one senior official briefed on the intelligence said. “But it could be mixed motives — to steal if they can, or to sell whatever information they could glean.”

The JP Morgan hackers burrowed into the digital network of the bank and went down a path that gave them access to information about the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of account holders. They never made it into where the more critical financial information and personal information are stored.

The bank’s security team, which first discovered the attack in late July, managed to block the hackers before they could compromise the most sensitive information about tens of millions of JPMorgan customers, said several security experts and others briefed on the matter. The attack was not completely halted until the middle of August and it was only in recent days that the bank began to tally its full extent.

American officials say they have been working with JPMorgan since the intrusion was detected, chiefly through the Treasury, the Secret Service and intelligence agencies that seek to find the source of the attacks. But that is slow work and one official cautioned against leaping to conclusions about the identities or the motives of the attackers.

“We’ve been wrong before,” he said.

Secret Service chief Pierson resigns amid security breach scandal
DHS secretary says independent panel will review Sept. 19 fence-jumping incident

U.S. Secret Service Director Julia Pierson, appointed to fix the embattled agency in the wake of a scandal in which agents consorted with prostitutes in Colombia, has resigned, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson announced on Wednesday.

Pierson “offered her resignation, and I accepted it,” Johnson said in a statement. “I salute her 30 years of distinguished service to the Secret Service and the nation.” She was the agency's first female director.

At the White House, press secretary Josh Earnest said President Obama had telephoned Pierson to thank her for her service.

"Over the last several days, we’ve seen recent and accumulating reports raising questions about the performance of the agency," Earnest told reporters. "The president concluded that new leadership of that agency was required."

Johnson said he had appointed retired Secret Service agent Joseph Clancy, former head of the Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service, as acting interim director of the Secret Service.

Earnest praised Clancy as the right choice, stressing that he has the "full confidence of the president and the first lady."

And the secretary said he had decided that “a distinguished panel of independent experts” should look into the Sept. 19 incident in which a man armed with a knife scaled the White House fence and got deep into the presidential mansion before being stopped.

“The panelists will be named shortly. By December 15, 2014, this panel will submit to me its own assessment and recommendations concerning security of the White House compound,” Johnson said. “I will also invite the panel to submit to me recommendations for potential new directors of the Secret Service, to include recommendations of individuals who come from outside the Secret Service.”

Earnest said the president did not have a timetable for naming Pierson's replacement.

It was unclear whether a specific incident triggered the resignation. But Earnest noted that the White House had not heard about an episode in which an armed security contractor with a criminal record rode an elevator with Obama “until shortly before it was reported publicly” on Tuesday.

Procurements of consciousness upgrades continues at this moment throughout the Gaia planetary councils.

Established formulas for advancements (so-called) are failing at increasing velocities and will not be continued.

All consciousness levels on all dimensions are elevating at this moment, in spite of visible-to-eyes appearances.

Chaotic nodes appear in exponentially increasing numbers throughout the cosmos, and in particular, the Gaia consciousness sphere.

Such nodes must reach sufficient concentration levels prior to node blow out and settling at Higher Levels.

Inner Light levels of Hue-Beings and hu-beings nears sufficiency for planetary up-leveling.
